Castle unleashes the Panther

Panther picCastle has just emailed in news about a limited edition IYONIX called the Panther.

The snazzy black cased machine is fully geeked out with space for 11 drives, a front mirror panel and swing door, temperature gauge and thumb-screw access. The specs include: 512MB 200MHz DDR RAM, 120GB hard drive, 52x CD re-writer, Gigabit networking, PC style graphics card capable of up to 2048 x 1536, and USB connectivity. The cost is £1399 plus delivery, although current IYONIX offers also apply.

Check out the IYONIX website for more info.

Unregistered user You could just go down PCWorld and buy the case from there as they do that same case (without badges) for about 90ukp retail. Course, it's cheaper if you find one elsewhere :)

Room for 11 drives is one thing, but can all of them be used?

Room for up to 11 drives (4 x 5 1/4", 7 x 3 1/2")
Well, take away maybe two 3.5" bays for floppy and card reader (both USB?), and given that IDE usually only has a max of 4 slots available, you'd need two PCI IDE cards and probably a second PSU just to plug them in. But that's not the point, it looks cool - 11 drives! :)

I've just thought of a great headline for this news item: "Castle lets the cat out of the bag". Much too late!
