eQ releases GPL software for RISC OS

Posted by Richard Goodwin on 09:55, 24/5/2001 | , , , ,

Multinational coders eQ have a number of RISC OS resources on their website, including an MP3 player for non-StrongARM machines, a new Java Virtual Machine, and an ARM development kit for Windows and Linux (so you can write RISC OS software even if you don't have a RISC OS machine on your desk at work). Given the nature of the company there's also a large pack of Cyrillic (Russian) fonts. Some of the software is in the early stages of development, but it might be a good site to keep an eye on.

Unregistered user If anyone could tell me whether this JVM of there's does anything, and if so how one installs it (I dowloaded it a few days ago, but there aren't any instructions), I'd be grateful.

BTW, I'm aware of the existence of the word 'compile' but have never got round to understanding exactly what it means or how to do it! :-/

Unregistered user Downloaded the RISCOS SDK for Windows but it is very short on documentation. Hopefully I'll figure some of it out this weekend. It uses GCC to produce the RISCOS code and includes desklib and unixlib

Unregistered user It's a snapshot of the GCCSDK at http://hard-mofo.dsvr.net/gcc/ eQ seem to be trying to claim it's theirs. I hope people wishing to use the GCCSDK will join the mailing list on the GCC page and talk to the actual people working on this.

Unregistered user How are they trying to claim the GCCSDK is theirs? On the eQ website, it says the RISC OS SDK is based on GNU/GPL technologies [the GCCSDK], and in addition they have included the original docs with the RISC OS SDK.

Unregistered user Excuse my ignorance. How the hell do we install it? It's downloaded and that's about it. Uck, WebsterXL uses System Font
in Web page boxes :-(

Unregistered user For the JVM you need java code :) It only works in command line for now, but a graphic version (without standard librairies is on the road).<p>For GCCSDK, yes it's not ours, and I never trying to say that (as write simon). It's "our" package based on an somewhat heavy integration effort. I added a few links on the website to clear out this non sense situation (a new documentation is on the road).<p>For michael, if you could say me what package does not install, it'll be possible to help you :)<br>
