You probably know which the only tube station which doesn't contain any letters of the word 'mackerel' is, but did you know which one doesn't contain any letters of the word 'badger'?
And apparently Debden is unique in at least two ways - haven't found either of them yet. |

The only station which doesn't contain any letters of the word 'Acorn' is Temple.
And yes, I fully intend to carry on posting to this thread until I get bored. |

Surely short ones are easiest, because there's less letters to play with? Wouldn't it be more fun to find the *longest* word that produced a Tubewhack? Other wise, wouldn't you just use "A" or "I"? ________ Cheers, Rich.

ROUGOL Talk = Debden
Sophie = Bank
Yes this is a completely gratuitous plug for Sophie Wilson's talk at next month's ROUGOL meeting on 19th April |

... beat that Further to this, I have just written a BASIC program which will do all the hard work for you. Obsessive? Moi?
And to rise to the challenge presented by Mr. Lees above: no, I haven't managed to beat it, but I did score a couple of equalisers:
"Lore": Bank* "Hare": Pimlico
*Wapping is no longer part of the Tube, so ner. |

Further to this, I have just written a BASIC program which will do all the hard work for you. Obsessive? Moi? ...And, even further to this, I've just updated it. I can tell by the clamour of activity on this thread just how interested you all are in this subject, so you will no doubt be thrilled to know that it now guarantees to pick out the very shortest Tubewhacks (it was supposed to before, but, as I suspected, didn't), and will print all possibilities for one station, instead of picking one of them more or less at random. |
