Today someone gave me a mouse with a thumb wheel. I've used one on a PC several times and the thumb whell is a very useful feature. The question I have is, is there anyway I could make it work with my RPC, or are there any plans for an upgrade to allow this? |

Thanks for the reply. I couldn't find anything on the site, but I've sent an email enquiring about it. |

The plug on my mouse won't fit the socket on the RPC. I suppose I could make an adapter if I could find the technical data about the PC mouse. However I would be a bit nervouse about that - a couple of years agao I put a new plaug on a mouse lead and blew a fuse on the mother board of my Dad's RPC. It cost £40 pounds to be fixed - I was not popular! The most ironic thing is that I'm doing a BEng in electronics - my soldering should have been better! |

I guess the Thumb Wheel Mouse does have a PS/2 plug (looks quite similar to the one on your RPCs mouse). For that you can use Stuart Tyrells PS2Mouse - works fine and is highly configurable with native hardware support for wheel mice. Otherwise - if it is USB.... you'll have to wait 'til the USB cards are availabel. |

Not necessary to make a adaptor as Stuart Tyrrell Developments have allready made one for you. This is the page http://www.stdevel.demon.co.uk/Hardware.html#ps2mouse You then can use any PS2Mouse on any Acorn computer that does not have a PS2Mouse socket as standard. |

I have one one of those cordeless ones fron logitech and under RISCOS it only moves the cursor up and down not the page. If you're using Stuart's converter then it depends on the DIP switch settings; I've found that it sometimes lets a menu click through when set to grab-scroll so I've switched it back to move up/down. |

I have the small in line one from Stuart so I can not configure it but it works well with the cordless mouse/keyboard, would not go back to using a normal mouse now. |
