Unregistered user ARM and Picoturbo (an Californian ARM clone manufacturer) have settled their court case (as reported on the picoturbo web site (www.picoturbo.com)).

The following comment is telling:

"picoTurbo's current customers will be able to complete existing designs and manufacture their products based on such designs with support provided by picoTurbo. Both companies will work with picoTurbo customers to affect a safe and smooth migration to the ARM roadmap for future designs."

What possible consequences this has on hardware and software (emulator) scene is yet to become apparent.

Regards

Annraoi

Unregistered user Do any big customers have Picoturbo contracts, that we know of?

And how could this have an impact on the emulator scene?

Unregistered user Not sure who used Pico, and I am not sure they'd want to put their names up in lights either.

The emulator scene I am referring to is that of Mips who (as far as I can recall) were looking into emulating the ARM on their processors thus allowing companies who have ARM code to find an easy migration route.

Whether VA or Red Squirrel will come under fire I doubt it, simply because they only run on PC's and are unlikely to be vehicles for allowing ARM code to be run on embedded platforms of the sort ARM would normally compete against.
