Hi there,

Using the Doom port in http://jeffd.drobe.co.uk, y Jeffrey Doggett, I find it has no music. Of course, I don't have MIDI hardware in my Pandaboard and the port doesn't have OPL emulation.

So, according to the port's help file, I need a Risc OS MIDI player. Alright, I got ReMIDI installed along with patches. It seems to play mid files great if I load them, and it even includes nice waveform instrument patches!

But, even having it running (in the lower taskbar), this Doom port won't play any music.
I also got sure the play_music value in doomrc is set to 1.

Can you guys help me here?

Thanks

The MIDI driving code is the same as that used in DIY doom. It requires a module that provides the MIDI background SWIs (0x404C0 onwards). Originally I used a module from the RiscOs 4 CD. I'm not sure whether there is a background player available for RO5. Also some of the more modern PWADs have MP3 music in them which is totally unsupported.

Don't forget that the drobe site is now effectively dead, the current address is http://sites.google.com/site/jeffreyadoggett/

Jeff
