Does Rpcemu Networking work on Windows 7 Home Premium via Wifi? I have setup the networking both PC side and RiscOS side ifconfig -a shows the adapter. I have checked the log file that I read in a post the flibble has posted and its created the tunnel. I can't ping my router or the outside world in RiscoOS I am using RiscOS 3.71 but I was just thinking that maybe the networking doesn't via wifi so I thought I would check before I carry on trying getting it to work. thanks for your help from David Heath

I've never got it working with RISC OS 5 on RPCEmu, despite following the instructions to set up a virtual adapter and network bridge. I use a wired connection on Windows 7 Pro. |

RPCEmu089/4.02 on Win7-64 networks well here via a wired connection to the network bridge; I've not tried using wifi, nor have I attempted to network 089/5.17, also installed on the Win7-64 PC. Hope this helps. Also, there's a fair amount on networking in the RPCEmu Archives, which might be worth a look:

LOL! True but I thought if Windows can bridge it how would RPCEmu know if it was wired or wireless? RPCEmu doesn't know or care, it's due to not all windows wireless drivers supporting the bits needed for bridging. It affects all apps that use bridging. |

I am not sure then all I know is then I right click both adapters then click bridge it bridges them (well at least I think it does)

Its not working via the cable either so I don't know whats happening I have tried both Riscos 3.71 and Riscos 4.02 |

Out of curiosity (I think I've asked this in IRC before, too), but why isn't pcap being used?
It's certainly FAR easier to set pcap up (on both Windows or Linux), and it has none of the UDP issues or bridging issues that TUN/TAP has. Sure, you can't NAT it that way, but...

I don't believe it its working now the only diffrence I did was restart the computer after installing the TAP I didn't think that would have made a differance |

nope its stopped working again I thought I would try it again on wireless didn't work so I reconnected the bridge on the LAN Adapter and its not working again!

Oh ok thats a shame. I am trying to install RPCEmu on linux does it work on Knoppix? I am following the instructions on Riscos.info and I get to the point where I type ./configure --enable-dynarec and I get this error ./configure: line 4591: syntax error near unexpected token `,'
./configure: line 4591: ` AM_PATH_ALLEGRO(, , as_fn_error $? "building RPCemu requires Allegro to be installed" "$LINENO" 5)'
but I carn't find Allegro in synaptic package manager? or am I doing it wrong?

but I carn't find Allegro in synaptic package manager? Follow the "building from source on linux/unix" instructions and it tells you what packages you need to be able to build it. Then, find a version that suits your distribution, or grab it from from the Allegro website. |
