Suddenly I'm feeling very old indeed /gulp.

Not sure what happened to 10/10, as it was a 4th Dimension sideline, so probably went to APDL in the end via CJE. Hard to say, though, as I'm not sure what parts of 10/10 were covered by the 4thD deals.

Hi Andrew in the stack of disks I'm after replacements for are safe store, Messenger and HTMLEdit studio they are original disks with your company logo on them but the disks have been very kindly wiped by the previous owner (that was very nice of them) is there any way that you would be able to help with them

Thanks

Simon

You'd need to contact us privately about that via email. I'm afraid we don't normally have a particularly positive view of second hand items as we use the funds of software sales to keep paying programmers (we're one of the few to still do so, maybe the only ones!).

However, if I can help, perhaps by easing the task of moving your products onto !Store (or working out upgrades), then I'll see what can be done.

There was at one point some tie up between 4th Dimension and 10/10 but they went separate ways well before we took over 4D. Then 10/10 went bust and I don't think anyone bought up the software as I never heard of it again so all the rights will legally be in limbo with the liquidator being responsible for them, but they will almost certainly have closed the book on the case long ago.

Hi Chris

thanks for your input on this matter so that would rule out you having any of the software im after

if no one legally owns the rights to the software what would that mean?

thanks again

Simon

Legally the creditors (jointly) will own them. But practically no one now has control of them. I would expect in this sort of case if someone wanted to buy the rights they could track down the liquidator and make an offer, but unless it was tens of thousands of pounds I doubt they would be interested in opening up the case again.

I'm sure various rights that Acorn had have now been orphaned and part of the reason there was they didn't really know what they owned, so MSDW (who I think will now be the owners[1]) wouldn't be interested unless there was many noughts (Six?) in the deal

[1] If there was a catch all clause in the contract with Pace e.g. 'any other rights not specified elsewhere' then ownership may be at Pace. But again they probably would need a similar sum to get interested.

Legally, nothing happens, someone still owns the rights, either a liquidator, the crown, or it was spirited away in a comedy deal before the company went under.

Practically, everything happens, copy it, share it, enjoy it. Safe in the knowledge that the current (c) owner almost certainly has no idea they own it, and doesn't care about it anyway.

So, does anyone have any disc image of 10/10 software they want to share?
