It is with great sadness that I add this post.

David Holden passed away on the 15th May 2014 after a short battle with Pancreatic cancer.

His funeral is on 20th June 2014 at Brockley Cemetery.

If anyone has some suggestions as what I can do with a huge amount of acorn computer stuff as I am responsible for clearing the contents of his house.

Please email arnieh.walker@facebook.com.

Kind regards

Hilary

I am sorry for your loss. Dave brought a lot of knowledge to our community.

My suggestion would be to talk to one of the other RISC OS dealers (R-Comp, CJE Micros) and have them take the stock, on the condition that the proceeds from the sales go to a charity that Dave would have chosen. Alternatively, there are companies that take goods off your hands and pop them on eBay and give you the money raised minus a percentage handling fee.

I believe Aaron Timbrell and David Bradforth may have property amongst these items, so I'm not muddying the water until that's all sorted.

Hopefully it can be handled respectfully, and I know those guys were close to Dave, so I'd like to think would handle things as he'd have wished.

Having spoken to Hilary (Dave's cousin) today.

She asked me to let the RISC OS community know, that the family are keen for Dave's work to continue to be available. Initial contact has been made with various people to ensure his software, website and stock of hardware are put to good use.

This is probably going to take some months, so please be patient.

I'm so sorry to hear this.

I'm new to the community but Dave reached out and has been a great help with his knowledge, enthusiasm and generosity.

My thoughts go out to his family and friends.

Can I just say a few words of thanks to everyone who as posted messages and emailed me as well. I glad to hear that David had been a valued member of this forum and well respected by all.

The family want Davids work to remain in the public domain and to be available to everyone, this may take some time as there is a lot of legal stuff to sort out regarding ownership of copyright etc.

Thank you for the offers of help as well.

I will keep everyone posted over the next few months.

Thanks again

Hilary

Sorry to hear the news. My thoughts and sympathy go to David's family and friends.

As well as on this forum, people have also been posting kind words about David on stardot as well as the RISC OS Open forums, and I hope these messages give some comfort at this difficult time.
