Hello! I just purchased a boxed A3010 on eBay, turned it on and it booted to Supervisor mode, took it out of that loop by booting with DEL, but one thing I've noticed is that the keyboard isn't working correctly.

Keys like Break work as expected, but pressing A gives me Æ, B gives me some weird character and C gives me the american dollar cent sign.

I've opened the case and reseated the ribbon cable which didn't look broken or anything. The key lights for Caps, Num lock etc work as expected when pushed.

Is there a fix for this?! There is a *slight* battery leak but nothing major. I can't do anything with the unit at present, after pushing a few keys and getting the special characters, the keyboard freezes completely. unhappy unhappy

Considering returning, any help would be greatly appreciated!

It could be that one of the ALT keys maybe stuck down. I would suggest removing the keyboard, disassembling it and cleaning it, as per:

(OK, I know this is for an A3000, but I think the A3010 would be similar)

Also, remove the battery. If it's started leaking, it will only get worse:
