Excellent!
Now, I wonder how hard it would be to add the relevant SCSI (+ network) podule emulation to an emulator. Supposedly this is the right SCSI podule driver, so it should be possible to use it as the basis for some hardware emulation (+ use the sources to build the relevant RISC OS drivers). |

RISC iX generally makes better use of the hardware than RISC OS, so basing it on the RISC OS driver might yield surprises. I seem to recall there is some magical IRQ prioritisation gizmo on the backplane of the Archie that RISC OS doesn't use but RISC iX does, for example.
Still, it would be cool! I used to use RISC iX quite a lot and remember the joys of being unable to build anything that used autoconf because it couldn't cope with the space in the uname. And you having to apply an upgrade patch to implement DNS. |

Wow! The Holy Grail has been found!
A reminder that with the Acorn SCSI interface a single SCSI drive must have a SCSI ID of 0 (Drive 4) and if two fitted the second must be SCSI ID 1 Drive 5)
n.b. if anyone needs an AKA32 we have a new and a second hand Podule in stock! I think we have an AEH50 but it isn't tested yet so not listed on our website. |

We've just sold the last second hand AKA32 but we do have the new one and some S/H AKA31's and the ROM upgrade to AKA32 specification. |

This is awesome news.
Would it be possible to install on a CF card through some sort of SCSI--- IDE adapter ?
I am asking because my R260 would like this reinstated if possible. The original 100MB Connor HD is long gone, as was the RisciX partition on it. I replaced it with a very silent 4GB CF and I am loathe to stick a rattly old SCSI drive back in the thing.
I have still got my AKA31 SCSI card and am wondering how best to go about this. The compatible drives mentioned are going for 80 odd quid, if I'm going to pay that I would rather have a sleeker solution.
Im assuming that it looks for SCSI :4 so anything that is useable as a SCSI drive should work ?

In theory, I would expect something like the Acard 7720U SCSI-IDE bridge to work in conjunction with a CF-IDE or SD-IDE adapter.
I experimented a lot with the Acard bridge in the days when IDE CD writers took over from SCSI CD writers. It had very good compatibility and every IDE device attached (including IDE hard drives) "just worked".
The problem now is the same as back then: the Acard bridge is extremely expensive.
A cheaper option might be to look for one of the rare Yamaha F1 CD writers which achieved SCSI connectivity via an IDE-SCSI bridge which is said to also work with IDE harddiscs. |

Lol my brother gave me a bag of bits from his old PC in it was one of the aforementioned Yamaha bridge boards (he had a SCSI cdrw) I shall look and see if I can find it. I fear however, that it was binned in a rather reckless clear out a few Months ago. *fingers crossed* |
