Unregistered user Arrghh! Am I taking this thread too seriously, or has someone seen a picture of a new case somewhere? If so, where?

Thank you.

nope,
as far as I know, if you ask Castle they would reply with "What Case?".
Either they're not bothering to build a machine, or they do have something under wraps, but like Microdigital I doubt they want to shout about it too soon.

btw, what happened/ing to RiscStation's Evolution????

Unregistered user I think they're keeping the project secret until it's ready to be released.
I can now see the importance of this having read the effect of Microdigital on the market. Apparently, many people are saying they are delaying any purchases until the Omega is released which has now been delayed.

Microdigitals approach was to signal the spec of hardware WAY before it was ready for release and then take deposits (so getting money from development while (probably) hitting their (and everyone elses) sales).

They are not cashing cheques until the customers have the machines.

I would imagine some people might be bored with waiting for omega and buy a kinetic anyway. i nearly did...

Unregistered user That being the case I withdraw my original remark.

Yes waiting is a bummer, but I am quite happy to wait for a fully finished stable updated platform be it from Microdigital, Millipede, Castle or whoever.

Unregistered user The premature release of information about incomplete products really irritates people (understandably so).

The problem is once the cat is let out of the bag current product sales (which pay for the development of their successor) go down the toilet (and with them their funding !).

Microdigitals approach was to signal the spec of hardware WAY before it was ready for release and then take deposits (so getting money from development while (probably) hitting their (and everyone elses) sales).

I suspect Castle may well be developing new hardware. Then Kinetic appeared out of nowhere, and no doubt that development work will have helped Castle's engineers with designing modern memory subsystems (useful in a new design as well!).

If I were a betting man (no!) I'd suspect Castle will have debugged and update the original Pheobe spec (after all the development work originally done by Acorn must have had some value and a lot of documentation and hardware is probably available for Castle to work from).

If I am wrong on this please accept my appologies, if I am right I'll start buying Lottery tickets (well you never know wink)
