I don't think this warrants a news item so I'll just post here instead. RISCOS Ltd.'s website has been revamped. Unfortunately we now have horizontal scroll bars, tacky animated GIFs, and a slightly confusing navigation method ;(. At least it shows that they're trying though. |

Oh and when I say their website it only seems to be the front page. They could still be working on it though - the site map for example has lots of broken image links. |

It's also far to heavy to download with all this graphic. Smaller gifs could easily get the message across plus take much less valuable screen space. |

Well now that they've got that nice textlink sidebar at the left, they can just get rid of all the jigsaw piece graphic links. Replace that whole area with some welcome message or intro text to RISC OS Ltd and their main product. After that (would take them what, five minutes to do?), they can see about restructuring the website so that the number of links on the left is cut by at least half. That ought to force them to organise stuff more appropriately and make things easier to find. Then add some useful content. But if we see just the first suggestion happen, I'll be satisfied. |

Well you can't navigate the RISC OS Ltd. website with ease, so there is a problem ;-) |

Unfortunately we now have horizontal scroll bars, tacky animated GIFs, and a slightly confusing navigation method Most of you may not notice, but that Search This Site GIF glitters, emitting light in pulses like a heartbeat. It huts my eyes - I have to scroll down an inch or so before I can concentrate on the rest. |

At least ROL have updated their web sites so let's go easy on them guys, at least they're trying (I won't even mention MD's site as I get depressed thinking about it !). |

What does that even mean though? If I'm viewing on a PC, that gif is being 'rendered' on Windows. Poor choice of wording, or am I missing something? |

I think its a fair improvement on the previous version. It may not have been done the same way you would do it, but it seems quite acceptable to me.I don't see any horizontal scrollbars either, but then i am using the Big O, so thats no surprise. If ever there was a website we should be moaning about it's Micro Digitals's. Ok, I know we HAVE moaned in the past, but it still hasn't changed. I did think about offering to redo it for them, but then remembered I'd have everyone slagging it off for using Frames, lots of animated GIF's and Sounds. Seriously though, are Micro Digital really happy with their site?

Well, however you design your website there is always, always someone to complain about it. In fact I could complain about every site I visit but choose not too. If you can navigate with ease then there isn't really a problem. People like to nit-pick. I offered to help MD with their web-site but they didn't want my help. Oh well. |

I guess "if u aint got RiscOS to render this GIF, get if now" either that being the words of RiscOS Ltd, or they just want to show off the pretty rendering power of RiscOS machines |
