Unregistered user I am setting about crafting my first StrongHelp manual. I am in search of tools and information on how to do this.
I have the syntax guide but I think it only explains how to write a page, not the index page and the other files in ther
e.
Can anyone point me in the direction of more resources?
Are there any tools (such as macro inserters in the style of HTML3) that help?

Cheers!

Unregistered user AFAIAA, there are no tools to make your job easier.

The index page is called !Root and there are more ways to link to other pages than most people would ever need. (Try having a look at sh-cgi - the code for actually working out which file is being refered to is not nice).

It's probably easiest if you crib off another manual and only refer to the reference material when you need to. You should also note that when testing, it is a good idea to test with sh-cgi (if you can) as well - StrongHelp is not the only program used to access SH manuals.

Also use the #<command>s in preference to {<command>} - {<command>}s can give unpredictable results, e.g. with heading text line spacing or {line}s always appearing at the end of the current line regardless of where the commands appears in the text.

Finally, read and comply with Justin Fletcher's SH Style Guide - although some factual areas are out of date (in the version I have), none of the advice is.

Unregistered user I'd recommend reading the style guide too smile ftp://freenet.barnet.ac.uk/pub/Acorn/manuals/g.vik/data/manuals/3rd/sh-style.zip
