Unregistered user So we now have the big software release we have all been waiting for.
What about new major hardware now, does anybody know if we will be able to buy/take away something from the show this weekend?

Unregistered user Ok then no new major hardware.
I think I will only go to the show on Saturday and Sunday then.

Unregistered user Unless someone injects a shed load of cash into RO which I doubt then the market has no hope of getting any decent hardware and/or software out.

I've finally given up hope, if only the lead companies weren't so blinded by their own stupid politics and biases then it may have all been different. All you have to do is ask the right questions to the bigger RO companies and you can quickly find the attitude that has dogged backstage, usually "I hate xxx" or "We don't talk to them anymore". A few people don't realise this goes on and go to shows with a real expectation of something grand but nowadays the market is so desperate for updates that a change of an icon causes applause by the optimistic few.

Every day there is less money in our market. Do Pace care? I doubt it, maybe they've seen how RO doesn't actually sell and have stuck it on a shelf in Cambridge while concentrating on stuff that does actually make money. I suppose you could look at Lamborghini as similar, in the 80's they had a gorgeous product but market was small and they couldn't afford to keep going so various buyers propped them up as it got worse and they went on a rapid decent. Only saved by VW that have thrown shed loads of cash at them. Thing is, Lamborghini still had a decent product when VW bought them, RO doesn't.

Omega?

being as Pace are founder members of the Embedded Linux steering group and are not averse to embedded Windows either, I guess that no news is bad news - and Pace are ever so lacking in news. Personally I am beginning to suspect that RISCOS Ltd aka PM has been had - hook, line and sinker. Try as I might, I fail to see where RISC OS has a safe niche in the Pace server-under-the-stairs vision.

Ah, Lamborghini tractors! Then the Miura - the most beautiful car ever, thank you Bertone. Difference is, VW knew what they were buying, Pace only found RISC OS at the bottom of the box - they were really after the ARM codies. Hey lads, a stopgap till a real STB OS arrives! Even a few quick bucks off PM/ROL - off into the night lads before the truth dawns ...

Please somebody prove me wrong.

I believe that what Arenaman means is that the majority of us have yet to see one that works (like it should). unhappy
