Unregistered user Has anyone managed to get this to work?

StrongEd is supposed to use the Impression spellcheck module but whilst this gets loaded when you ask StrongEd to do a check, it then reports every word over two letters long (from memory) as an error.

It's not vital as I don't often want to use it but it would be nice if I could persuade it to work...

This is using StrongEd 4.64 and the spellchecking module that comes with Impression Style 3.07 (or whatever the final version was, I haven't got it in front of me).

Thanks in advance (hoping I'm just being stupid in some way...)

Unregistered user I could never get it to work either.

But if you're not doing it very often you could try this:

Ctrl-AAA, Ctrl-Shift-C in StrongEd to copy all the text to the global clipboard, paste it into an Impression frame, and spell check it there. Cut and paste works the other way too for putting the corrected text back into StrongEd. A bit of a faff though.

Unregistered user Switch over to Zap! Then you won't need to switch back!

Ahem, sorry.

Have you run the SpellFix program, you need to to use !SpellMod 1.24

Unregistered user I'm guessing it might be a RISC OS 3.1 thing.

I'm guessing it might be a RISC OS 3.1 thing.
Think it works in my old A310 last I checked, although I think there was some problems with keyboard input at some point.

Are you sure that the application with the spelling module in it has been seen? Are you sure you're using the latest version of StrongEd? I have a copy of the spelling module in Impression Publisher (in Apps), in CCShared and in StrongEd itself, or perhaps you can load it as part of the Boot sequence. I know the first version didn't use the spelling module if it wasn't loaded by the time StrongEd started booting, so perhaps check your versions (http://stronged.iconbar.com/)

Unregistered user Yeah, I currently have to swich over to something else if I want to spellcheck anything. unhappy

Think I'll e-mail the developers and we'll see what happens...

Unregistered user Spellchecking works fine on my copy - although I've had to add an extra dictionary for HTML as it gets a bit annoying having it beep every time you put in a perfectly valid HTML command smile

Unregistered user Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. However, I can now reveal that Mark is correct. Fred Graute (one of the StrongEd developers) e-mailled the SpellFix program to me which is needed to update !SpellMod 1.24 (which comes with Style) to 1.26 which StrongEd can use.

I'm now merrily spellchecking... smile

BTW, I have RISC OS 4.02 (soon to be Select...)

Unregistered user Hmm.. I seem to have recently 'aquired' this problem, or one like it (spellchecking picks up every word over 2 characters, additionally, trying 'spelling' from messenger crashes the machine).
Until recently spellchecking worked fine, and I don't know what I did to break it unhappy
I'm using Risc OS 4.02, StrongED 4.64, and SpellMod 1.24 (which may be the problem, doesn't explain why it should show up now though)
Do you know where I could get the SpellFix program ?

Charles
