Unregistered user Following the freeware release of MidiWorks I've finally decided to have a play with it and some of the other MIDI software demos that come with the RS7500.

However I need a MIDI synth. I'm not prepared to pay for RiscStations hardware upgrade at this stage in case I decide I can't translate my ideas from guitar to computer so are there any software synths out there? I'm pretty sure ESP did one, although I'm not sure where I'd get it from now.

Oops forgot - it must act just like MIDI hardware - ie ReMIDI won't work because it's a MIDI player but not a replacement for MIDI hardware.

Unregistered user RComp sell the ESP synth. You may have to use the alternative version as one is for SA only. It works with Anthem, Serenade for example.

Unregistered user Hi johnstlr,

Well, as far as I know, there's one MIDIsynth available on our beloved platform:
HBP10GM - get it at:

http://www.login.dknet.dk/%7Ehenrik/ or http://login.dknet.dk/~henrik/

also, there's a MIDIfile player called WhiteKey (like ReMIDI) which relies on .WAV or Soundfont samples for playback. Download it at:

http://www.informatik.hu-berlin.de/~csaszar/whitekey.html

I like 'em both, with HBP10GM my favourite. Still, I use them rarely, for I prefer MIDI hardware and my A5000 slows down too much when using Anthem + softsynth. Has MidiWorks really become freeware?! If so, same with the 'Lite' version for the older arcs? Anyway, Good Luck with these softsynths, hopefully more music-minded authors can be persuaded to write a really decent softsynth, perhaps with real-time filters and effects...
