Unregistered user WOMM (Works On My Machine). This is using the home ADSL connection, not the internal office connection.

Check the spelling, and that you can resolve other (non-TIB) hosts correctly.

Note if it's FTP upload of web pages you can just use the name of the website, ftp.iconbar.com is a stopgap until the site's DNS starts working.

Do I need passive?
Only if you're behind a firewall/NAT/router. But that wouldn't stop it connecting, only doing stuff once it had.

Unregistered user All I have done with Iconbar is connected using FTPc.
I have not done anything else.
I have the same IP address all the time so maybe it is blocked.
Should I email them (Argonet) and ask them why?

Unregistered user Er... Nettle's a telnet client. Connecting to port 23 will get you blocked 'cos there's no telnet server.

What's your IP? (email me)

Unregistered user A thought occurs - have you been doing anything naughty on the TIB server? Any perceived attacks - port scanning, connecting to illegal ports, and buffer overflow attempts on the web server to name a few - will result in your IP being blocked from certain services. I know this works because there's no telnet server on the TIB box, and I once forgot to switch my telnet program over to SSH and got blocked myself smile

How do you connect? If it's dialup then someone else that had the same IP before you might have tried the above and got blocked. If it's ADSL then you should keep the same IP (at least, that seems to be the case with Pipex).

No, I use NTL Broardband

Anyway, I've chopped down the block list, try again.

No unhappy Still doesn't work, FTPc and nettle did the same:

Nettle: Looking up host ftp.iconbar.com...
Nettle: Connecting to 194.200.2.233...
Nettle: Connection failed - Connection timed out
