Posting ages is silly, because next year (or earlier), this thread will be meaningless. Much better would be to post your year of birth. For the record, my year of birth is 1983, so ner.

Erk! Judging by the shows I've been to, I didn't think there were many risc osers much younger than, say, 30. Gawd, I bet some of you never used BBCs at school. |

In my old primary school they had some old RiscPC and A5000, I don't know if they still have them anymore. |

Teachers were allowed to cane the kids, we had to wear a proper school uniform, sports days was competitive.

We used BBC micros in my primary school. Infact my old secondary school still uses them for measurements in physics labs. |

They did get a couple of A3010s and A3020s, but mainly still used BBCs. Then the school burnt down. They lost the lot except the few machines that were in mobiles rather than the school building, then they got some A4000s and A5000s from the Tesco coupons (when they were sponsored by Acorn). Then I left for high school, who had Win3.11 boxes, and a room of Amstrad PCWs (complete with green screen!). They did have a room of BBCs in the Maths block, and in 2000 upgraded the lot to NT4 boxes. Dunno what they use there now. |

When I went to high school they used RISC PC's for 3 of the years I was there, for the last 2 years there were NT machines Though some RISC PCs were still being used around the non ICT based class rooms, and I bought one of them

My secondary school used to have pretty much everything - A310s, A440s, A3000s, A3020s - even an A500!
I remember great excitement when we got our first A7000  No RPCs, though.
My primary school was BBC Micros and Masters - although we did get *one* Arc when I was there. My teacher was cross, and said she thought getting such a powerful computer was a waste of money...

An age thread. Thank you ever so much. I do NOT want ages or birthdays or anything along those lines mentioned when I've got less than a month to go before I'm thirty.
FWIW, RISC OS first turned up at school for me when I was at secondary age. For some reason the art department was one of the first to get an Archimedes, and had Atelier on it. By the time I left the fastest machines were A5000s. There were a few Windows things around (3.1, I suppose), but they hadn't made much impact before I left.
Kids used to write all sorts of interesting little programs when I was at school. Can't imagine them doing that now. |
