Why is it that acornarcade.com has these !Fresco
prohibitive JAVAscript links to screenshots of TEK? Is it that most people who view this site do
so with a PC? My copy of !Fresco quits with a type 5 error every time I try the links, so I get a spot peeved!
Have a good day, Ben.

Many people probably also use JavaScript capable RISC OS browsers - Fresco is so utterly outdated that's it's actually becoming a drag on web usage. What you need to do is to buy a browser that's still being developed and supported. Harsh, I know, but that's the real world - if you don't spend any money you'll end up with an unusable system, sorry.

Web technology like other technology moves on, if you insist on staying put in 1994 you're going to have to accept that there will be things you can't do.

Not Java but JavaScript! Two different things.

This is becoming the standard way of showing pictures in news systems on the net wether people like it or not.

The code I use specifically allows for both JavaScript and non-JavaScript browsers, which should please both sets of people. Apparently not unhappy

If you don't like JavaScript, turn it off in your browser. As has already been said however JavaScript popups to show images is a standard way of doing things, because it's the only way of fixing the size of the resulting window so you don't get a huge window for a small image. Although Fresco doesn't handle this sizing, the code still works both ways, and was developed in Fresco in the first place.

It works here using Opera 6.01 for Windows - which version are you using?

I mean, if Fresco, WebsterXL and Oregano can cope with it (albeit with their usual crashosity) then it must be simple code... wink

I've even tested it using the NCFresco SDK - it replaces the main page with the popup window, after asking if it's OK.

I'm using Opera 6.0 - maybe that .01 makes the difference, and I should upgrade.

You probably should upgrade but I'm also using Opera 6.0 and the code seems to work fine here. You could try checking your browser bar (what's it called for kriss sake?) at the bottom of the Opera window, the new window probably appears behind the AA window.
