Castle has just updated its
32-bit Documentation site; and the major addition is a new version of the
CallASWI module. This module was first introduced by Acorn with the advent of RISC OS 3.7 for users of earlier versions of RISC OS, so developers could use the new SWI calls introduced without worrying about backwards compatibility.
This new version adds 4 new SWIs - OS_LeaveOS, OS_ReadLine32, OS_SubstituteArgs32, and OS_HeapSort32, all of which were introduced with RISC OS 5. If you're just an end-user you can download and install it (remember, if you are running RISC OS 5 you do not need it); but it will probably be distributed with any programs that need it (it's freely distributable).
What's perhaps more important is the sign that Castle are continuing development, and providing plenty of resources so others can too.

I like how the ReadMe file is larger than the module itself. The Iconbar is really stomping on Drobe now - even though these are news items about the updates of 2K modules! What happened to Drobe's new year resolution to write a new article each day? :) |

I did wonder whether this was worthy of a complete news item to itself, but thought it was indicative of a wider trend; Castle's site is really worth shouting out. Proper technical docs, and given out for free - *that's* what'll encourage people to develop for the Iyonix. Anyway, I really should be working, not banging out news items... |
