Another gem has hit the eBay market in the form of
CompactFlash IDE interfaces. These are a must if you want to
silence your Risc PC, or replace the need for floppy discs.
renegadementor said he planned "to launch a series of hardware add-ons aimed squarely at the RISC OS market", but things have happened which have meant that this has been put on hold, leaving him with a stock of the handmade cards. The cards "will work with the RiscPC (and were actually designed for it)" says renegadementor, "although of course they work fine with any other system thet can use an IDE drive!".
Update: I was unsure if renegadementor wanted his name revealed, but he has emailed me to say it is OK. renegadementor is
Gavin Smith the former editor of AcornEvolution. He has told iconbar.com "I will be launching this and other hardware properly in the near future - in the meantime, if someone wants an interface, can you ask them to email me at gavin(at)acornevolution.com and I will send them details."

One of the annoying things about RISC OS kit on eBay for an Australian RISC OS user, is the usual postage to UK only restriction. If it wasn't for that I'd probably have purchased one of these. |

Although these don't have LEDs (which would be quite nice), they are cheaper - and you can get dual ones... http://linitx.com/index.php?cPath=39 |

Although, those haven't been tested on a Risc PC, and the ones Gavin are selling have. Also supporting Gavin on this project will keep the money in the RISC OS circles. |

So now we know what is keeping Gavin so busy that acornevolution has had to take a back seat. Good on you, Gavin: it looks like a neat piece of hardware. I wonder if he is bringing it across from Ireland to sell at the Wakefield Show ? |

Note The linitx Dual CF card doesnt seem to work with RISC OS. I tried it and it simply said 'bad sector'. The same interface and card work fine on a PC. |
